Alright folks,

As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site.

So here's a place to talk boxing.

Thanks for the answer! That rule sounds pretty ambiguous though given the different fits and styles of the shorts and different physiques of the fighters. Plus, can anyone be sure exactly where Tyson Fury's belly button is given how hairy that guy is? You'd need a team of seasoned forest rangers to locate that thing.

Thanks Stephen. But I do much much less nowadays, just the big fights now. Cody probably does the most now but Priscilla has taken over Mexico and that is a FOOKIN NITEMARE!!!!! So they both deserve equal credit.

About the low blow rule regards to boxers differing short/belt line heights. If the referee thinks that a boxers shorts and groin protecter are too high you will hear him say something about this at the beginning of the fight while squaring both fighters up.  It's down to the referees discretion.
Again, you don't have to hit square on the **** or the Bollocks for it to be a low blow. I heard referee Jack Reiss explain this recently and he said that the line for legal blows is on or below the hip line

Thanks for sharing that video as it's always great to hear someone who actually knows about the sport explain slightly more misunderstood aspects of it. The more you know!

An Underrated, Under appreciated great Heavyweight

Sonny Liston is mostly remembered for losing to Ali. What gets lost is that he was a BAD MFer in the ring and 1 of the best Heavyweights ever, IMO.

The always excellent Rich the Fight Historian just released this doc on his YouTube channel (which you should subscribe to if you want to brush up on your boxing history)

Got a random one here.  Was going through the weekly schedule to put up events for the week and saw a new event pop up in China.  Not only is there a kickboxing fight on it involving Buakaw Banchamek, but the guy who was the supposed mole in Ryan Garcia's camp and former olympian, Tsendbaatar Erdenebat, has appeared on the card.  Last I knew he was signed to DiBella and had a fight in the US get cancelled in June.  Caught me a little off guard when I saw that

I think Junto would beat Martinez, but it would be a great fight!! Unfortunately Martinez has been boxing with the PBC and they prefer to keep their guys fights in house, only doing cross promotion for the biggest fights. Boxing ********!!!

I do believe Junto will have success at Bantam, all the way up to Featherweight even 130lbs, because he is very tall and still young enough that he can fill out a little.

Really hope that Ioka Estrada unification happens on the big Japanese New Years show. What a fight that could be!!! Ioka has been left out of the excellent Super Fly series between Estrada, Chocolatito, Rungvisai, Cuadras over the past decade. I always wanted to see him and Chocolatito face off but Estrada is a damn fine alternative!!!

Some stuff going on behind the scenes Mikey.  KSI v Tommy Fury is being recognized as professional according to BoxRec even though it’s still under the PBA.  That’s pretty big considering the BBBofC’s stranglehold on the market.

Sorry Cody mate, I still don't care about that nonsense!!!! My only hope is for a double Knockout to occur in the main and Co Main of this freak show.  Oh and as an extra treat it would be great if someone slapped Big John Fury the "Fighting Man" who regularly got KO'd by journeymen in his short pro career!!!! I just want him to shut the **** up!!!!!

Anyhoo, back to boxing. Thought I'd post a couple of videos. 1st 1 here from the excellent Rummys Corner. A recap of the Klitschko brothers Heavyweight reign from the early 2000s to mid 2010s.

They got/get a lot of stick for being boring jab and grab fighters (well Wladimir for sure) but over 50kos from 60 wins isn't to shabby!!!
Vitaly was my preference of the 2, not as technical as Wlad, he had a mean streak in him and was more offensive styled.

Finally heres another excellent film from 1 of my favourite Boxing YouTube content creators, Rich the Fight Historian.

This 1 is about Diego Corrales, 1 of the best action fighters of the early 2000s. He took part in 1 of the greatest fights /comebacks ever vs Jose Luis Castillo
There's extended highlights in this video, I highly recommend you check it out because it's amazing!!!!  Corrales also faced the best Lightweights of the era including Mayweather when he was Pretty Boy Floyd, a demon!!!!! Other greats include Joel Casamayor, Acelino Frietas, Roberto Gracia, Angel Manfredi and every fight was a BANGER!!!!!  Watching this reminded me of just how devastating a puncher Chico was, his left Hook especially was lethal, he was also 1 of those guys who became more dangerous when he was hurt!
A great action fighter, great fights, well worth the watch

Wasn't really remarking about the fight itself, more the fact that a fight not sanctioned by the BBBofC is being recognized as pro in the UK.  Hasn't happened since Haye v Chisora, and that was at least done by another recognized commission.  Seems like that could have some implications even in regular boxing if the BBBofC loses their monopoly.
