I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. You can absolutely have the same kind of emotional attachment to a dog as you would another human so it's perfectly natural to greave them in the same kind of way. A dog can change a person's life a dramatically as well. The bond between humans and dogs is a very unique one and one worth celebrating and mourning. I just hope you can take comfort in the memories you have of Chuck over the years.
